Welcome to the page for the Dexter Drama Directing Series, affectionately referred to as “3D.”  Now in its seventh year, this production's purpose is to showcase the power of student-driven work.  All one-acts within this series are student-directed by upperclassmen and, as always for Dexter Drama, student-acted and student-crewed.
We feel wonderfully blessed to have students within Dexter with the talent, drive, and ambition to meet this challenge.   An interesting fact about the history of this series is since its original debut seven years ago, the "3D" Series has always had at least one student playwright as well.  We are very proud that this unique production serves as a celebration of both student leadership and student writing as well affirms that Dexter has a Drama program that encourages a student to explore and experience all aspects of the theater.

They eventually come to the conclusion that they have died and each of the two platforms symbolize heaven and hell without knowing which side is which. They all reflect on their lives while waiting for the train to come and decide whether to board or not. Houston, We Have a Problem
Written by Michael Wehrli
Directed by Kaitlin Helholtz

It’s three days before opening night and there’s a half-finished set, a complete lack of props and costumes, the light and sound board operators are off videotaping a wedding, and the playwright is about to have a heart attack. Throw in an actress with an extremely jealous boyfriend, a dictatorial stage manager, a very organic method actor, and a techie running power tools during rehearsals and you have a splendid disaster of a comedy. Join the cast and crew as they hilariously struggle through this debacle of a tech rehearsal.
Trisha: Zoe Nowak
Jason: James Carty
Michelle: Mack Dixon
Matt: Cameron Cotner
Denise: Lily Cyrulnik
Danielle: Corin Jordan
Marcus: Evan Colby

Expectations
Written and Composed by Sabina Carty and Molly Wing
Directed by Sabina Carty

"Expectations" is the story of two young adults on the brink of major life changes. Sam and Leanne have just graduated from high school and are unsure if their relationship can weather their wildly different plans for the future. It's all the more complicated by a secret one of them is keeping from the other. Written and composed by Sabina Carty and Molly Wing, "Expectations" is a bit of an ode to the sweetness of growing up in a small town like Dexter, and how hard we find it is to say goodbye to the ones we love.
