Dexter Drama Directing "3D" Series
2022-2023 School Year
Dexter Drama Directing "3D" Series
Directors and Show Synopsis
Welcome to the page for the Dexter Drama Directing Series, affectionately referred to as “3D.” Now in its twelfth year, this production's purpose is to showcase the power of student-driven work. All of the one-acts within this series are student-directed by upperclassmen and, as always for Dexter Drama, the productions are student-acted and student-crewed. We are very proud of this unique production that celebrates both student leadership and student writing; since its debut twelve years ago, the "3D" Series has always had at least one student playwright. We feel wonderfully blessed to have students within Dexter who have the talent, drive, and ambition to meet this challenge and affirm the DDC's mission to encourage students to explore & experience all areas of theatre.
We are excited to get back to 3D with 6 amazing shows! The weekend of the 17th each show will get to perform twice! Each night is sure to be filled with laughter and bundles of joy. See you there!

Barbara's Barbershop
Written and Directed by Alec Althoen Stage Managed by Jill Dorsey Barbara’s Barbershop is a play that takes place in one setting: a Barber Shop. The play uses the fact that it is performed on a stage to its advantage, creating the show’s “Gimmick.” It uses the foreground to tell the story, and uses spotlights to highlight the person speaking. This play stars Barbara and her two sisters, Braidy and Curly and their dog; itches. Barbara, Braidy, and Curly have lines, but they’re not the ones actually telling the story. The story, or stories, are being told by the people getting haircuts. There are a total of 7 people that get their hair cut and each of them have a story to tell. And the stories are all connected, but how? Conflict
Written by Wade Bradford Directed by Juno Bursch Stage Managed by Adam DeGregorio Entertainment is all about drama—the introduction of a problem and whether or not our protagonist can solve it. This is the case, ranging from classics such as Medea to more contemporary pieces like Amélie. Conflict, written by Wade Bradford, cleverly tackles the human desire to watch others suffer and succeed—whilst a healthy hatred for cantelopes underscores the play at the same time. Narrator………...
