Dexter Drama Club families, the Covid-19 pandemic has created unique situations for us all.
Some positive moments have included more time with family, a new appreciation for nature, and maybe even the opportunity to sleep in a little later on those weekdays.
Unfortunately, there have been some negative moments too. In some cases, the loss of employment, academic and social cancellations, and for us all, a level of uncertainty for our future endeavors.
I hope you can agree that the Dexter Drama Club (DDC) strives to create a family that supports and cares for each other. Being physically separated has made it clear that our family is needed more than ever. The Dexter Drama Club student officers, parent booster team, and the directing and producing staff are proud to announce the launch of a new program, Drama Cares. This new initiative aims to help us care for each other and stay together even when we are a part. This program is evolving but is starting with three simple steps.
1 - Our current student officers have been asked to reach out to EVERY member of our program. A simple check in to make sure all is well and to ensure everyone is aware of our current activities and the opportunities for involvement.
2 - There is now an option on our website for you to request more specific support communication from us. This request can be for yourself or make it easy for you to get help to someone who you think is in need of a connection. Perhaps a special occasion is coming up!? Or perhaps you know a student that just needs a social connection. Maybe you have a question and are not sure who to ask! Look for the "Drama Cares" button on the bottom of this page and every page of our website, dexterdrama.org.
3 - We are aware that some of our families are suffering financial setbacks with this environment. Donations made to our "Drama Cares" program will directly help students that may not be able to afford to be involved in the performing arts. No one should have to choose whether to participate based on their financial situation.
If there are other ways we can help, please let us know. Students and staff are used to spending a lot of time together and we feel the emptiness that Covid-19 has forced on us. Let's come together in ways that we can right now and care for each other!
