Do you love making films, watching films, or even starring in them? The 6th Annual Dexter Drama Film Festival is a great opportunity to explore a different form of art and share your creativity with the community. Film is a unique way to tell a story, experiment with visuals and sound, and express ideas in ways that theater or other art forms cannot.
Film submissions are due April 5, 2026, and the festival will take place on May 16, 2026 in the DHS CPA. This event is open to all middle school and high school students, even if you are not a member of Drama Club. It is a perfect chance for students to try something new, showcase their talent, and be part of an exciting tradition!
Have nothing planned for spring break? Creating a film is a fun and productive way to fill your time! Past years have featured comedies, dramas, and documentaries, giving students a wide range of creative freedom. Your film could be the next one to inspire and entertain the audience!
Submissions also have the chance to win awards at the Annual Dexter Drama Gala in June, celebrating the student films of the year. To get ideas or see what has been done in the past, check out the Dexter Drama Club YouTube channel for previous submissions.

2026 marks the sixth annual Film Festival, after being introduced during COVID-19 by the 2020-2021 group of officers. Originally created as a way for art and creative performance to continue in a time where theater was difficult, it functions as a way for DDC members to try new forms of performance and explore their own creative ideas.
If you are interested in submitting a film to the 2026 Film Festival:
Please submit your film to caleb.drummond@dexterschools.org NO LATER than Sunday, April 5th!
